
My learner focused approach helps me deliver lessons that are more engaging and memorable. I belive this is vital in helping learners turn their learning challenges into triumphs.
I am Level 5 qualified teacher in supporting learners with dyslexia and other SpLDs as well as learners who find learning tricky.
I support learners with:
phonological awareness, reading, writing, spelling, numeracy, handwriting, typing and study skills.
I deliver practical, evidence-based training for school staff and parents, focusing on classroom accommodations and home support strategies for students with Dyslexia and ADHD. This specialised training provides actionable techniques for understanding and effectively supporting learners with specific differences, including dyslexia, ADHD, and autism, ensuring a collaborative approach to student success.
Specialist teaching is one-to-one and multi-sensory ensuring the learner use as many senses as possible to make learning more memorable. It is particulalry effective for learners with dyslexia. It takes a child-centred and flexible approach to teaching ensuring lessons are fun and positive to create a happy learning environment. This supports with building learners' confidence and developing self-esteem as well as encouraging independent learning. Lessons are highly structured and cumulative.
Multisensory teaching, sometimes referred to as 'whole brain' teaching. It is an educational approach that engages more than one sensory system. It integrates as many visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic sense as possible to help learners discover their learning style and strategies that work for them. It can be used in all areas subject areas and benefits all learners including those without special education needs.
A few of my learners' favourite activities include: tic-tac-toe spellings, times tables space races, fly swatting spelling and four in a row reading.
Building confidence and self esteem. Phonics, reading, spelling, writing, numeracy and handwriting.
I support primary school aged children who may have a dyslexia or special educational needs diagnosis or find learning tricky. I'm able to support learners 1:1 in the local area, or online from anywhere.
I deliver my training using Google Meet or Teams. Teaching is delivered through screen sharing and is made interactive through the use of an online and physical whiteboards, and various online programmes. I always ask my learners to have a whiteboard and pens to hand.
